Project Overview:
As part of a class project, this book cover redesign of A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas incorporates symbolic elements that reflect the novel’s core themes. Wings represent freedom, a sword signifies conflict, and stars embody destiny—each element thoughtfully integrated to capture the essence of the story. The goal was to create a visually compelling cover that resonates with both longtime fans and new readers, offering a fresh perspective on the book’s enchanting world

Typography
A custom typography was developed, inspired by the original but reimagined with a looser, more organic feel. Departing from the structured and methodical nature of the original design, the letterforms were elongated and curved, intertwining like vines. This visual approach symbolizes the intricate and tangled situations within the story, while enhancing the whimsical and enchanting tone of the cover
Background
The background of the book cover was created by scanning a hand-drawn ink design made by me, which was then digitally refined in Illustrator. The colors were adjusted, and additional elements were incorporated to ensure the background complemented the overall composition, all while maintaining its organic, artistic quality.
